Simplify Recordings was founded in 2009 by Seattle-based producer and DJ Aaron Simpson. The label started with a bass-music focus and has issued music in drum and bass, dubstep, glitch hop and future bass, while focusing on drum and bass. Its roster has included Figure and Au5. Releases have appeared on Beatport, iTunes, Spotify and SoundCloud, and several reached number one on Beatport’s dubstep and glitch hop charts. Label tracks have also featured on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and So You Think You Can Dance.
Following numerous house submissions, the label launched Build It Records as a separate imprint for house music. Simplify Recordings received Symphonic Distribution Awards for Hardest Working Label in 2011 and Most Forward Thinking Label in 2012. In 2013, one major release was Rudebrat’s The Quick and the Dead EP; its single “Won’t Stop” reached number one on Beatport’s Dubstep Singles chart.
