Sub-liminal Recordings was founded by Ben Carvin, known as DJ Agro, as a drum and bass label based on the south coast of the UK. Its beginnings were a series of events at Brighton’s Volks in 2011, before the label’s first release in 2015: Damage Report’s “Giants Breath,” paired with a Total Recall remix. Agro created the label as an outlet for his own tracks and music by friends, with Too Greezy among the producers involved at the outset. Sub-liminal also operates as an events company in Brighton.
The label’s sound is energetic and bass-heavy, and its releases have appeared at electronic music festivals and other major stages. Artists connected with Sub-liminal Recordings include Ego Trippin, DJ Hybrid and Benny V. Sub-Division Recordings is its sister label, based in Brighton and focused on drum and bass. DJ Hybrid’s “State of Mind” was released by Sub-liminal Recordings in 2026.
