Felix Hulbert, who records as Objectiv, is a Bristol-based drum and bass artist and producer. Born deaf, Hulbert regained his hearing after cranial osteopathy treatment at about five years old. He has discussed that experience in connection with his music, including the EP Raining Sound, which includes a collaboration with Hyroglifics. His production has been described in terms of exploratory bass design and hard-hitting drums. He has described sound design, particularly synthesis, as a long-standing focus in his production, and has said he learned by studying sounds and watching tutorials.
Objectiv is part of the OCC trio with Teej and Lupo, and co-founded OCC Recordings. Early releases include the 2017 single “Fragments Vol. 2”, made with Scartip and Screamarts for Fragmented Recordings. He released the single “Back Hand/Close” in 2020, then joined Amoss for the 2022 single “Valley Stepping” on Flexout Audio. His label credits include Flexout Audio, The Sauce Recordings, Dispatch Recordings, The North Quarter, T3K Recordings and Vandal Records. He has also released music on Lifestyle Music and Addictive Behaviour. The wider OCC collective also includes Jappa.
For Sofa Sound, Hulbert developed the two-part Walk The Talk project around sample-based, hip-hop-influenced drum and bass. His other collaborations include work with Klinical and a 2023 single, “Hot Pepper Remix”, made with Agro and DJ Hybrid for Sub-liminal Recordings. In 2025, he teamed up with Amoss again for the single “Sauna Season” on Sofa Sound. That year also brought “Rainy Daze (Objectiv Remix)”, a single on Transparent Audio with Morrow. He released the single “Peckyard” on Bowlcut Beats, which features a remix by T>I.
Objectiv’s 2026 releases include “Heeshdah”, a single with Thread for Must Make Music. Hulbert played at The Trinity Centre in May. In February, he performed at Onyx (E1) alongside Amoss. His 2025 appearances included Hootananny Brixton and Chinastraat.
