Tempo Records is a Rotterdam label founded in 2012 by the Dutch DJ Frodo, also known as PRPLX. Its focus is drum and bass, with releases spanning jungle and techstep, and music is issued on vinyl and in digital formats under an open-minded music policy. Seba, Paradox and Digital are among its artists, and the label also hosts events and showcases alongside its releases.
Digital’s “Africa” appeared on Tempo Records in 2014. In 2016 the label released “The Light”, a three-track record, and “Give Me A Dub”. DJ Trax’s “20000 Beats Under The Sea” arrived in 2017, with live drums on “No Name”, and Etch’s “Predator Trax” followed in 2023. Its releases move between newer drum and bass styles and jungle.
The label has set up three sublabels: SPEED, TempoCore and TempoSubs. SPEED serves as both a sublabel and a project for releases from established drum and bass producers, and its launch release was “Twister”. TempoCore centres on jungle and began with “Tunnelvision”, issued in December 2021. TempoSubs debuted in November 2021 with a release by the Brazilian DJ Andy. In October 2023 the label put out “Ability II Corrupt”, a debut long-player by a Manchester duo.
