VTO Records began operating in 2021 as a United Kingdom drum and bass label founded by people whose roots trace back to the 1990s hardcore scene. Neurofunk is its focus, and its sound and visual identity draw on science fiction, synthwave and cyberpunk. Its first release paired “Paradox” with “Deep Vision”; Ed Rush & Optical backed the follow-up, “The Beast,” helping the label attract wider attention. VTO Records grew from its founders’ idea for a neurofunk outlet after TRCD felt his music did not suit the broader, multi-genre remit of Lee UHF’s Dirtbox. The founders had previously run labels in other genres.
TRCD, Lee UHF, The Fi5th and NERV3 are among the acts on VTO Records’ roster. The label has worked with Akuma and Paperclip, and runs both the Cells Interlinked series and a podcast platform. Its April 2024 compilation Chapter II brought together material across 15 tracks. A further compilation, Chapter 3, was released in 2025.
Paperclip’s “Sueta / Neurofunk Forever” came out on VTO Records in 2025. The label also issued “Hold Up (Maniatics Remix)” in 2026. Its name comes from the vertical take-off spinner cars in Blade Runner, linking the label’s identity to science-fiction imagery.
