Western Lore was set up in 2017 by Bristol producer and DJ Dead Man's Chest, also known as Alex Eveson, as an outlet for his music and visual art. The drum and bass label draws heavily on jungle, hardcore and breakbeat.
Response, Tim Reaper, Ricky Force and Coco Bryce are among the artists with music on the label. Coco Bryce's Beats Like This came out in 2019, the same year as Response & Pliskin's album We're All Disturbed, and THUGWIDOW's Contaminated Genome followed in 2025. Western Lore releases on vinyl, with some titles also on cassette, runs the Blunted Breaks compilation series and operates the vinyl-only imprint Lore Ltd.
