The TURBO stage will host true masters of their craft: dubstep DJ Rusko and the geniuses of sophisticated drum and bass, Chase & Status.
While most dubstep artists focus on powerful and aggressive sounds, Briton Rusko consistently proves that his music is for happy people. His cheerful and lively dub has already earned the nickname “Happy and heavy.” Perhaps these peacemaking views were formed earlier, when the DJ was learning bass guitar, saxophone and piano in reggae and ska bands. Rusko later released two albums in which he incorporated Jamaican motifs into the bass parts. Dubstep plus reggae—that is how harsh music turns into rays of creative goodness.
Rusko’s shows are truly memorable. The musician takes several trucks around the cities at once, filled with gigantic stage sets featuring three-metre-high letters spelling RUSCO, each made up of 150 light bulbs and moved by hydraulics. KUBANA audiences can expect a genuine dubstep performance.
The British electronic duo Chase & Status needs no special introduction. It is enough to say that the musicians have collected five awards from the Drum & Bass Awards over the course of their career and have been nominated for the title of the best group in the United Kingdom, while every one of their releases invariably enters rotation on BBC radio stations. Chase & Status made a name for themselves by releasing brain-bombing drum and bass hits, and further increased their fame by working with global stars and remixing hit tracks. The duo wrote instrumentals for Rihanna and SnoopDogg, remixed tracks by the rockers from Foo Fighters and The Prodigy themselves.
The main thing is that Saul Milton (aka Chase) and Will Kennard (aka Status) are not resting on their laurels, but continue to develop and experiment. They were not afraid to move towards dubstep, as well as to add live instruments and vocals (MC Rage sings live at Chase & Status performances).
