The World of Drum&Bass is true.
On 26 May, the much-loved international festival The World of Drum&Bass will come to St Petersburg once again, this time in its limited Session format.
The World Of Drum&Bass— practically the same age as the drum&bass movement itself. As one of the first major festivals of its kind, it quickly became an undisputed flagship of global music culture.
A six-hour marathon of music at the Kosmonavt Concert Hall will be staged by the best and most current representatives of the global drum&bass scene:
Grooverider /uk/ — a legendary figure. He started out back when all music with a broken beat was called jungle and was part of the worldwide rave movement. For 14 years, his own programme was broadcast on BBC Radio 1; it was named the best by the Drum&Bass Awards and confirmed the fact that Grooverider is one of the best DJs in the world. True story.
DJSS /uk/— founded many well-known labels, including Formation Records. He brought to life the festival that travelled all over the world — The World of Drum&Bass. We all know him, and that is “true”.
Misanthrop /de/— a German producer and one of the brightest representatives of neurofunk. His alias comes from the Greek word “misanthropy”, meaning “rejection of, hatred toward humanity, dislike of, contempt for the ‘rules’”. You should understand what awaits you on the dancefloor during his “let all living things die” style set.
The list of Russian artists who had the honour of performing at this year’s festival is no less impressive. Among them are artists already beloved by the Russian publicOding S, Posh, Quant, Contract Killers, as well as MC Papalam and Smoky D.
COMPETITION:
WODB introduced many bright and unconventional talents to the world. John B is one example. Russia is continuing this tradition. The production centre “Ya-Talant” and Vertigo Promotion are holding a competition for young DJs for the second time; the winner will get the chance to perform at the festival.
