AKOV is the artist name of Alexander Ushakov, a drum-and-bass producer and DJ from Bristol who is based in Vienna. He began releasing music in 2013. In 2014, Mirror Image, a single made with Twitchee Cordz, was released on Drum&BassArena. His releases have appeared on Eatbrain, Basstaste, Titan and Viper. Rooted in neurofunk, his music also draws on heavy-metal influences; he sings and raps on some tracks and has written lyrics for MCs. His releases include the EP Mantra, released in 2015, and Space Bears, released in 2017.
AKOV runs Symbiotik Records, a label for his experimental neurobreaks work, and released Inertia LP on the label. He formed the halftime project Ancient Radius with Multiplex and Also. A collaboration with Multiplex and Elmar under the Ancient Radius name grew from their work together on “Dutch Courage.” In 2026, he released Never Be The Same/Tunnel Vision on AKOV Music and Cheap Faith, made with N3b, on N3b & AKOV. That year he also put out A Brand New Day (AKOV Remix), a remix of Veritate released on Strasser Music, and Are You Happy Now? on Neuroheadz. Hivemind 03, released on Symbiotik Records, featured Drumago and Foks.
