CLIQUES formed during the first lockdown in early 2020, with its members setting out to make drum and bass without being confined to one sound. The UK collective began releasing music in September that year, launching with a bootleg of SAINt JHN’s Roses. Its members initially kept their identities hidden, performing in balaclavas and boiler suits. CLIQUES also started its own label, CLIQUES Collective Audio, and launched the “CLIQUES Got Dubs” series in October 2020. The releases range from liquid drum and bass to heavier dancefloor tracks, and the group has collaborated with and remixed artists in the scene.
CLIQUES has released music through its own label as well as Hospital, RAM and Get Hype. After supporting tracks from the series, London Elektricity contacted the group about remixing The Prescription Is Love. CLIQUES has worked with vocalists including Grim Sickers, Bassman, R.A. the Rugged Man, Marianna Ray, Pablo Lazers and Celph Titled. Its other label connections include Viper Recordings and DeVice, while Buried, made with Eksman, came out on Born On Road. The track Ninja Frog, made with JFB, was also released on DeVice.
In 2023, CLIQUES began revealing more about its members: Phil, also known as Specimen A, and Paul, sometimes known as Pablo Lazers. Former member Mo contributed to the group’s early sound before leaving to pursue other interests. In 2024, CLIQUES released No More Tears with Grim Sickers and LU:KE on Stay Present, as well as Free on DeVice and Rave Sequence (Kravitz Remix) with Kravitz on Jungle Cakes.
In 2026, CLIQUES released STOP SCROLLING with Genesis Elijah through CLIQUES Collective Audio. The group also hosts the interview podcast “THIS IS CLIQUES.”, featuring conversations with artists and other guests about their creative processes.
