Formed in 2018, CMD/CTRL is a bass-driven electronic music project founded by Matt Rose. Based in the United States, CMD/CTRL uses she/her pronouns. The project signed to Just Isn’t Music soon after it took shape, then joined NWS in 2022. That year, its first single for NWS was No Stress, released on NWS Recordings Limited. CMD/CTRL’s releases include drum-and-bass collaborations, among them work with S.P.Y and Danny Byrd, as well as music with A Little Sound, Cosmic Gate and Elipsa.
CMD/CTRL describes her sound as textural, atmospheric and groove-forward, with a focus on creating physical dancefloor journeys. Her first event appearance was in 2023, and San Francisco/Oakland is the region where she has played most often. CMD/CTRL remixed “The Club Rules” for Driveclub Original Game Soundtrack (Remixes).
The 2024 single Pink Champagne brought CMD/CTRL together with Danny Byrd and S.P.Y. In 2025, she collaborated with A Little Sound and S.P.Y on Area Code, and with Grace Barton and S.P.Y on Beautiful Thing, released on DnB Allstars. That year’s Only You paired CMD/CTRL with Scrufizzer and SMACK on Actuation. The collaborations also reach beyond those drum-and-bass pairings: Need a Little Love, made with Cosmic Gate, came out as a single on Wake Your Mind Records in 2026.
In 2026, CMD/CTRL teamed up with Elipsa and S.P.Y for the single Higher Than Heaven, released on UKF on March 5. The same year, Home paired CMD/CTRL with Duke & Jones and came out on Duke & Jones (CMG).
