Danny Byrd is an English DJ and drum-and-bass producer from Bath whose route into the genre began with rave and jungle; he was drawn to its complex beats. He has cited hip-hop and R&B as influences on his production. Around 2000, after sending demos to about 20 labels, he met Hospital Records’ Tony and Chris and joined the label as one of its early signings. His EP Do It Again was signed to Hospital Records that year, and he also released the single Changes on the label.
Hospital Records became the main home for Byrd’s releases, while Ministry of Sound was also among the labels associated with his work. His album Rave Digger came out in 2010, the year he released Ill Behaviour, featuring I-Kay. The single reached the UK Top 40, peaking at number 36 on the UK Singles Chart. Byrd also remixed Liquid’s Sweet Harmony, which reached number 64 on the chart. In 2000, his remix of London Elektricity’s Wishing Well received support from BBC Radio 1 DJ Fabio.
Byrd’s collaborations include Tonight with Netsky and Paperchase with Brookes Brothers. He has said that he and the Brookes Brothers share musical approaches, working on ideas separately before bringing them together. Their collaboration Gold Rush appears on his album Supersized. In 2013, Byrd released Blaze the Fire (Rah!) featuring General Levy, followed that year by his album Golden Ticket.
Byrd worked with D Double E on Selecta, released on Ministry of Sound, and said that jungle sounds from the mid-1990s inspired its production. His album Atomic Funk came out in 2018. In 2026, he released Feelin' This Way with Brookes Brothers and Nothing To Lose on Byrdhouse. That year he also released Bad Like We with Doktor and Shapes, and LEGENDARY STATUS with KURUPT FM, Natty D and Sigma.
