Brookes Brothers

Brookes Brothers, the London-born drum-and-bass duo of Dan and Phil Brookes, began producing together in 2002 after club nights and raves introduced them to the scene. Also known as Daniel and Philip Brookes, the brothers developed their production partnership into a DJ act. Their first track appeared in 2005, followed in 2006 by their first Viper Recordings single, Someone / Promise. That year also brought Hard Knocks on Breakbeat Kaos and the paired tracks Portal / Desert Island on W10 Records. Their sound is known for soulful, disco-infused drum and bass.

The 2008 single Tear You Down helped bring Brookes Brothers to a wider audience and spent two weeks at the top of the UK dance chart. In 2011, the duo released the album The Brookes Brothers on Breakbeat Kaos. It featured Beautiful, with vocals by Robert Owens, and Paperchase, made with Danny Byrd. Their 2012 single Loveline was followed in 2013 by Carry Me On, featuring Chrom3. With Danny Byrd, they also made Get On It.

Their collaborations include Verano with Sub Focus, Rework and Smoothie with Culture Shock, and Dawn Treader with Futurebound. Their work with Danny Byrd also includes Gold Rush and Climb High. Brookes Brothers have remixed tracks by Chase & Status, Nero, J Majik & Wickaman and Shinichi Osawa, and have received remix work from Wretch 32, Plan B, Crystal Fighters and Maverick Sabre. In 2017, they released the Viper Recordings album Orange Lane.

Brookes Brothers released New Wave / Headlock in 2018, followed by Turn Down The Lights Remixed with Benny Page and René LaVice in 2019. Their later singles include Big Love, released on UKF in 2025, and Close Enough, released on Drum&BassArena in 2026. The 2026 single Feelin' This Way brought another collaboration with Danny Byrd, this time on UKF. When discussing how they build DJ mixes, the brothers said they select tracks for quality, then arrange them by key, energy and changes in vibe.
