London Elektricity

In the mid-1990s, London Elektricity began as a duo formed by Tony Colman and Chris Goss. The project grew alongside their work co-founding Hospital Records in 1996, the year London Elektricity released the single Sister Stalking on the label. After Goss left in 2002, Colman carried on under the name as a solo artist. Known as a producer and DJ, Colman uses London Elektricity for his drum-and-bass work. He later established Fast Soul Music as a label for his own releases, adding label work to his production and DJ roles.

London Elektricity’s early albums included Pull the Plug, released through Hospital Records in 1999, followed by Billion Dollar Gravy in 2003. The latter featured a live-band line-up including Andy Waterworth, Landslide, MC Wrec, Jungle Drummer, Liane Carroll and Robert Owens. Power Ballads followed in 2005, and Syncopated City arrived in 2008 as the project’s fourth studio album. Colman’s releases also include the tracks “Different Drum” and “Just One Second”; “Song in the Key of Knife” brought the project wider recognition.

London Elektricity’s music combines drum and bass with live instrumentation and soulful vocals, and the project has been associated with the development of liquid drum and bass. Colman has spoken about the pull of the contrast between rapid percussion and a slower bassline. That approach also had a live-band expression on Billion Dollar Gravy, whose performers included vocalists and instrumentalists alongside MC Wrec and Jungle Drummer. Later albums include Yikes!, released in 2011, and Are We There Yet?, issued in 2016 through Medschool.

Recent singles have paired Colman with other artists: “Diamonds in the Rain” with BCee and Ruth Royall appeared on Spearhead Records in 2025, while “All On Top”, featuring Conrad Subs and Genesis Elijah, came out on Metalheadz that year. In 2026, London Elektricity released the single “Hoverfly” with Serpnt on Fast Soul Music. Colman also played at EVE SLC on 17 October 2026.
