Nu:Tone

Born and raised in Cambridge, Dan Gresham performs as Nu:Tone, producing and DJing drum and bass. He began piano lessons at eight and joined the Jesus College choir in Cambridge the following year. At Durham University, where he studied music, Gresham met John B through college radio. They shared broadcasts and started the local club night Substance. Nu:Tone signed to Hospital Records in 2003, after releasing the 2001 single Grand Central / The Boss (The Money Shot) on Beta Recordings. A 2003 single, Soul:ution Sampler 1, paired Nu:Tone with M.I.S.T. on Soul:R.

His first album, Brave Nu World, arrived in 2005. The 2007 album Back Of Beyond includes “Beliefs” with Pat Fulgoni and “System” featuring Natalie Williams. Nu:Tone’s 2008 album Future Sound Of Cambridge 3 brought him together with Logistics and Commix. His 2011 album Words and Pictures features contributions from 4hero, Ben Westbeech, Natalie Williams, Logistics and Heidi Vogel; the single “Seven Years” features Williams. Future History followed in 2014, and Little Spaces in 2021.

Gresham also makes music with his brother Matt Gresham, known as Logistics, as Nu:Logic. The duo released the album What I've Always Waited For in 2013 and Somewhere Between the Light in 2017. Nu:Tone has also used the aliases The Future Sound of Cambridge and Danism. In an interview, Gresham described working in a garden studio, mixing in the box and gradually bringing more hardware into his setup. He has said he prefers to let music develop naturally, waiting until he has something to say before making an album.

Nu:Tone’s later singles include Dive In, released on Rinse in 2015 with Billon and Todd Edwards, and the 2025 remix single Back To The Sun (Nu: Tone Remix) with In:Most, on Soulvent Records. The single Clarity came out on Hospital Records in 2026. In August that year, Nu:Tone played at Hackney Wick Multiple Venues for Hospital30 Block Party.
