London-born producer and DJ Tom Mundell began releasing music as Metrik in 2007, with the track Your World on Intrinsic Records. Drum-and-bass CDs introduced Mundell to mixing the genre, and production followed soon afterwards. Early releases on Viper Recordings included The Departure EP and Between Worlds EP; the 2008 single Stranger also appeared on the label. These early releases came before Metrik’s move to Hospital Records. On The Departure EP, he collaborated with Jan Burton on “The Arrival” and “Learn To Fly.”
Metrik signed exclusively to Hospital Records in 2012, after releasing music on Viper Recordings. The label released Universal Language in 2014, followed by LIFE/THRILLS in 2016 and Ex Machina in 2020. Metrik’s collaborations include the track Legacy with Friction and the single Can’t Speak with Netsky, featuring Stealth. Metrik also remixed Sub Focus’s track X-Ray. He collaborated with Grafix on “Parallel,” released alongside Ex Machina.
In describing the production, Metrik has cited synths and vocals alongside euphoric melodies and dark, cinematic science-fiction sounds. Hospital Records issued the 2025 singles Hole, made with Enter Shikari, Filthy Pig and Rou Reynolds, and Waves, with Grafix; Setting Sun was another single that year. In 2026, Hospital Records released Dawnbreaker (Subsonic Remix).
