D*Minds are Bristol drum-and-bass producers and DJs Jon Midwinter and Alistair Vickery, who began working together in the city in the late 1990s. Bristol-born and bred, they met through a shared interest in dance music, record shops and local nights, and were previously known as Distorted Minds. The pair co-founded D-Style Recordings, one of the labels through which they released music, and later founded Stereotype. They emerged as part of Bristol’s breakbeat and drum-and-bass scene, and are British producers as well as DJs.
In 2003, D*Minds released T-10, featuring MC Jakes, on Adam F’s Kaos Recordings. Other early releases included Snuff Baby and Warriors on Formation. With Skibadee, they made Give It To Me and Stay Focused, released jointly with Break Beat Kaos. They also released music on True Playaz and their own D-Style Recordings. Under their earlier name Distorted Minds, they released the EP T-10 / The Tenth Planet. Their tracks also include Jump.
DMinds worked with DJ Hazard on Mr Happy, released in 2007, and Super Drunk; both tracks came out on Ganja Records. DMinds helped refine the mixdown of Mr Happy. Their connection with Bristol’s event scene also includes RUN, a drum-and-bass rave and event brand with which they are associated. They said the RUN weekly club night began in 2006 and ran for four years. Outside drum and bass, they worked on film-trailer music and received awards for their work on the Blade Runner campaign.
In 2020, DMinds released the single Concept on RUN. Their RUN releases also include 800, made with InsideInfo as their second single for the brand. The duo collaborated with Mefjus on Systematic. DMinds also released Foundation EP.
