Dom & Roland is the name under which London-born British producer and DJ Dominic Angas makes drum and bass; it refers to Angas and his Roland sampler. He grew up in Shepherd’s Bush and spent five years of his childhood in Germany. His friend Nico Sykes encouraged him to begin recording, and he started with a computer and a Roland S760. In 1994, Angas signed to Moving Shadow and released music on a label owned by Sykes. The following year, he and Brian Ferrier released “East/Solstice” as Current Affairs on Saigon.
Angas also worked with Ed Rush as Neotech on “Valves/Terminal.” By 1996, he had built a professional-standard recording studio and become prominent in the drum and bass scene. His debut album, Industry, came out on Moving Shadow in 1998 and included a collaboration with Optical. He followed it with Back for the Future in 2002 and Chronology in 2004, both on the same label. His first appearance at a Resident Advisor event was in 2005. After leaving Moving Shadow, Angas founded Dom & Roland Productions. His sound is associated with the darker, experimental side of drum and bass and with techstep.
His releases have appeared on Metalheadz, 31 Records and Saigon Recordings, as well as Moving Shadow and his own imprint. Angas has said he felt at home with Metalheadz, where he released The Last Refuge of a Scoundrel. His collaborators include Optical, Amon Tobin, Noisia, Hive and Rob Playford; No Strings Attached features Noisia, Amon Tobin and Rob Playford. In 2017, he released “Phoenix / Tears in Rain” with Technical Itch on Dom & Roland Productions. In 2023, Dom & Roland released the single “Burn Bright / Being.” In 2025, he played at Notting Hill Arts Club in London. In 2026, he released “Reflect The Technique / Conundrum” with Paradox on Individual.
