Technical Itch began in Bristol in 1995 as a collaboration between Caro and Darren Beale, known as Decoder. Caro had started DJing and producing in Birmingham in 1991, playing local raves, and released the mini-album Dredman as ent.T. in 1993. Caro and Beale also recorded as Plasmic Life, putting out the album Plasmic Life Vol 1 in 1994 on Brain Records. Technical Itch is the drum and bass alias of British producer Mark Caro, who has also recorded as Secret Methods and Decoder.
After their music drew attention on DJ Kenny Ken’s Kiss FM show, Technical Itch signed with Moving Shadow in 1996. The album Diagnostics followed on the label in 1999. The music has been characterised by dark, atmospheric drum and bass, dense production and forceful breakbeats. Caro established Tech Itch Recordings in 1993 and founded the label, while also owning Penetration Records and associating with Technical Freaks.
Caro collaborated with Don Davis on the soundtrack to The Animatrix. Technical Itch released the album White Label 005 on Tech Itch Recordings in 2022. In 2025, the single Killsound / Hell came out on Bad Chemistry Recordings, and the album MENECER was released on Tech Itch Digital with Doom Poets.
