Paradox

Paradox is the stage name of British drum-and-bass producer Dev Pandya, who also records as Alaska. As a teenager, Pandya became interested in breakbeats through hip-hop artists including Eric B. & Rakim and Big Daddy Kane, then began exploring his father’s record collection. He made music with DJ Trax as Mixrace before releasing early hardcore and jungle records on Moving Shadow. Pandya established Paradox Music as his own imprint; the UK-based jungle label began in 2003. He also runs Esoteric, Outsider and Arctic Music.

His work as Paradox has appeared on Reinforced Records, Renegade Hardware, CIA and Certificate 18. As Alaska, he made more ambient productions, with releases on Good Looking, Vibez, 720 Degrees and Nexus. His collaborators include Shobha Gurtu, Toshinori Kondo and Bernie Worrell, and in 2007 he worked with Herbie Hancock on Inamorata, an album by Method of Defiance.

In April 2026, Paradox performed at Paragon, at a warehouse in Los Angeles and at Ampere in Antwerp. He played at FOLD in June and Keller in July.
