Drumagick is the São Paulo-based Brazilian DJ and production duo of brothers JrDeep and Guilherme Lopes, formed in 1996. Their work and performances contributed to the development of Brazil’s drum-and-bass scene from the late 1990s. In 2000, JrDeep and Guilherme Lopes founded Beatmasters, a DJ and music production school, with Ramilson Maia and Anibal Messa. The pair’s album Aí Maluco, released through Trama Records, featured Max de Castro, XRS, Ramilson Maia and DJ Marky. They also released the albums Dance Box and Concrete Samba.
The track “Easy Boom” appeared on Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide compilation and reached number three among BBC Radio 1’s releases of the year. Their singles include “Easy Boom / Funquiada” and “Cambraia / Brasil.” The duo also released the EPs Brazil Summer Samba Club and Urban Landscapes through Tru Thoughts, and remixed Vadim’s track “I’m Feeling U”, featuring Greg Blackman, for BBE Records. Drumagick collaborated with DJ Marky on “Super Bass / Outside Moon” and worked with XRS Land and DJ Marky on Brazilian drum-and-bass releases.
Drumagick’s music brings drum and bass together with samba, jazz, Brazilian and Latin influences, and the duo is associated with the Brazilian subgenre sambass. Their labels include Sony, Virgin Records, V Recordings, Brownswood Recordings and Tupy. Drumagick launched BMR Music and runs Pl4yrec, focused on house, and Batucada Records, focused on Brazilian music. In a later interview, the duo said that working with musicians on tours and in studios influenced their sound beyond drum and bass.
The duo’s later releases include the single “Canto (Drumagick Remix)” with My Little Friend, issued through Black Diamonds Records, and the album Odisseia Tropical Reworks, released through Audio Network in 2024. Their album Checkmate! came out through Segundo Mundo Records and Sony Music in 2005, and the single “Brazilian DnB” was released through BMR Music in 2015.
