London pirate radio and the city’s rave scene shaped Franklin Davis early musical life, and helped move FD from DJing into production. Davis draws on soul, jazz and hip-hop as well as drum & bass and its history. The UK-based producer and DJ has released music on Critical Recordings, Soul:R, Metalheadz, Hospital, Spearhead and The North Quarter. Davis also named LTJ Bukem and Loxy & Ink among his early drum & bass inspirations. After returning to London in 2006, FD started the Medium club night with Sigha and Tasha.
A 2010 single, Canopy, paired FD with Hydro and Keza on Critical Music. In 2017, Davis released the four-track EP Alone With Everybody on The North Quarter, with Fox and Lenzman featured on tracks. FD and Lenzman run The North Quarter together. Davis issued the single All Yours with Ryck on SUNANDBASS Recordings in 2018, followed by 3 Way, a 2019 single with Total Science on Symmetry Recordings. His debut album, Better Days, also arrived in 2019 on The North Quarter.
FD released the four-track Serious EP on Sun & Bass Recordings, including a remix by Calibre. A 2021 single, The Sewers Remix, came out on Demand Records. In 2024, FD worked with Total Science on the single The Hardcore Will Never Die Years, released on Computer Integrated Audio. That year also brought the mix FD & Fox - 2024AD.
