Gancher & Ruin are identical twin brothers Alexey and Dmitry Goncharenko, producers and DJs based in Saint Petersburg. They became interested in electronic music in 2003 and began releasing their own productions in 2007. They started making drum and bass in summer 2006. Their music spans drum and bass and hardcore, and is associated with crossbreed. They have also explored techno and neurofunk, saying they prefer not to work within a single style. Their sound combines rapid breakbeats, four-on-the-floor kicks and complex arrangements.
The duo have released tracks on Future Sickness, Yellow Stripe, PRSPCT, LB, Position Chrome, Mindocracy, Enzyme and Eatbrain. Their 2013 album The Atmosphere of Destruction came out through Yellow Stripe Recordings. The album was made with The Panacea and C.A.2K, and includes “Ephore,” written and produced by Alexey and Dmitry Goncharenko.
Eatbrain released The Chase EP, which includes “Jump!,” a collaboration with label boss JADE. The brothers said the title track drew on the tension and adrenaline of being chased. Their music has helped bring crossbreed to a wider audience, and they have held residencies with Therapy Sessions and PRSPCT. Gancher & Ruin released the Interceptor EP on their No Music Allowed imprint, featuring “Interceptor” and “Boost.” In 2010, they released “Solitude / DogBite” on Subviolenz with DVK and MachineCode.
In 2025, they released “Gangsta (Remix)” on NMA with Profit. Their 2026 releases include “Boss Fight” on Blackout Music NL with Merikan, “Тушь” on DNK Music, “Целлофан 2.0” on embers.digital with DenDerty and Nevrostezia, and “Deepraw” on Eatbrain with Gydra.
