Born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Jonathan Winter began DJing around 2009–2010 before moving into production under the name Going Quantum. Winter started sharing DJ mixes online in 2010, and those mixes led to The Going Quantum Podcast, a weekly bass-music show that later brought in guest artists. Ephixa, whom Winter met at the same school, helped him learn in his early days; the two became friends. Their later collaboration, the single Let’s Roll, came together remotely, with the pair exchanging stems. Winter joined Monstercat as an artist in 2011, having been involved in the Canadian label’s launch and among its original group of artists.
Going Quantum contributed the track “Hello” to Monstercat’s first compilation, 001 - Launch Week, and released the Hello EP on the label in 2012. The 2014 single “Raw” followed on Monstercat. His podcast featured guest mixes from Noisia, Flux Pavilion, Snails, Seven Lions and Pegboard Nerds, among others, and went on hiatus in 2016. That year, he released the single “Rare” with Psychic Type. Winter also worked in Monstercat’s A&R department, helping select and develop releases for the label, and later became its Director of A&R. Space Laces also contributed a guest mix to the podcast. The collaboration with Ephixa was released on Monstercat in 2019.
In 2022, he released “Double Tap” with hayve. The 2024 single “Never Miss” paired him with Novelist and Whiney, and came out on Hospital Records. Going Quantum work at Monstercat also includes serving as Lead A&R, alongside his production and DJ work.
