Operate

Operate is the stage name of Dom Howieson, who began producing music at college after his friend Ed, also known as Edzilla, introduced him to production. Hip-hop and UKF dubstep were early influences, and seeing DJ Hazard perform led Howieson to choose drum and bass. Also known as Dom Operate, he is based in Bournemouth, United Kingdom. His music spans emotional, atmospheric material and darker, high-energy club tracks. His early releases included the 2017 single Shapeshifters on Young Guns Recordings and the 2021 single Ivory with T-Man on Onyx Recordings.

In 2022, Operate released Slash EP Pt.1 with enta on RUN. In 2023, he released Lifelines with Javeon on Shogun Audio. His releases have also appeared on Shogun Audio, Hospital Records, Skankandbass and Tekx Records. The LSD EP came out on Overview Music, with the tracks “LSD” and “2FACE” alongside “Diamonds” with Degs and Duskee, and “Notions” with Javeon. Other collaborators include Rizzle, Monrroe, PAV4N, Rider Shafique and T95, as well as Degs, Javeon and T-Man.

Operate teamed up with Linguistics and Catching Cairo for the Shogun Audio single Without You, and with MadRush MC for the Overview Music single One By One. Klinical and Koherent are also among his collaborators. In 2025, he released Remember When with Aaron Payne on Transparent Audio.
