Rudimental are Piers Aggett, Kesi Dryden and Leon “DJ Locksmith” Rolle, a drum-and-bass group from Hackney, East London. Aggett, Dryden and Rolle grew up on the same street and attended the same school. Their musical reference points include garage, grime and jungle, alongside the influence of pirate radio. Producer and songwriter Amir Amor first worked with the group before joining its original line-up, contributing to “Feel the Love”, “Not Giving In” and “Spoons”. Amor later became a former member as Rudimental returned to a trio. Their music has appeared on Black Butter, Asylum and Atlantic Records. The group formed in 2009 and signed to Black Butter Records in 2011. Rudimental’s collaborations include “Waiting All Night” with Ella Eyre, “Lay It All on Me” with Ed Sheeran, and “These Days” with Jess Glynne, Macklemore and Dan Caplen.
“Feel the Love”, featuring John Newman, became Rudimental’s breakthrough single in 2012, reaching number one on the UK singles chart. The group won the MOBO Award for Best Album for Home in 2013. Their 2015 album We the Generation included collaborations with Ed Sheeran, Anne-Marie and Will Heard. Amir Amor also discussed the group’s collaborations with Bobby Womack while talking about the album.
In 2020, the group released the single “Blend” with Netsky on Hospital Records. The 2023 single “Thunderstorm (feat. Deyaz)” was released with CLIPZ and Deyaz on Black Butter. In 2024, Rudimental featured on Ella Henderson single “Alibi (feat. Rudimental) [Shapes VIP Mix]”, released with Shapes on Atlantic Records UK. Another 2024 release was Disrupta’s “Gone For The Night (feat. Liam Bailey, BackRoad Gee, Scrufizzer & Shakes) [Herbz Remix]” on Columbia. In 2025, Rudimental released the album RUDIM3NTAL.
