Sam Binga is the stage name of Sam Simpson, a DJ and producer from Bristol who grew up near Hull in East Yorkshire before moving west. Before adopting the Binga name, Simpson released music as Baobinga and worked as one half of Behling & Simpson. He has described his approach as exploring dance music across genres instead of attaching himself to one style. His sound draws on fast-paced UK bass music, with influences from juke, jungle and dancehall.
A 2012 single, Small Victories EP, appeared on Exit Records. Binga’s work has also been released by 50 Weapons, Critical Music and Astrophonica. His notable tracks include “AYO” and “Lef Dem”; he made “11th” with Addison Groove. He and Addison Groove began working together in 2012, and their first release together was the BS3 EP in 2013. He has also made remixes for Zed Bias and CHVRCHES and collaborated with Om Unit. Their work includes the TransAtlantic EP, and they performed together at Sunfall in London in 2016. With Fracture, he made the album Omura.
In 2019, Binga launched Pineapple with a friend as a label for music beyond genre constraints, and he runs the imprint. In 2024, he released Lef Dem (Spectral Remix) on Critical Music with Redders and Spectral, and FIYA SELECTA on HARD Recs with Skream and Toya Delazy. His later work includes the 2025 single Rosa Parks, made with Mulii, and the mixtape Club Orthodontics, featuring Bakey, Machinedrum and Cesco. In 2026, his remix of TOKiMONSTA appeared as a single, and the Niche Flex EP with Cesco came out on Pineapple Records. He also had releases with Machinedrum that year. The TOKiMONSTA remix was titled Joy Without Sound (Sam Binga Remix) and appeared on Young Art Records.
