Skope is the stage name of Alex Chambers, a Brighton-based producer who began the project making dubstep after discovering the genre, then studied music production in London and Guildford. Chambers later created Malux as a separate name for drum-and-bass releases. Skope’s work spans garage, dubstep and bass music, with technical production and sound design at its core. Chambers has described a musical, synth-led approach shaped by neuro production, while also drawing on classic drum and bass, hip-hop, soul and funk. Samples and resampling are part of the production process. In 2015, Chambers discussed working on a collaboration with Stickybuds and drum-and-bass material with other producers.
In 2012, Skope released the single Losing You on Heavy Artillery Recordings. Skope’s releases have appeared on Inspected Records, Night Owl Collective, Technique Recordings, Monstercat and Mr. Bill’s Tunes. In 2020, Skope released the single Serengeti on Night Owl Collective. A collaboration with Erb N Dub, the single Altitude / Drummer, came out on Technique Recordings. Skope and Mr. Bill also made the track “Stutter.” Skope released the EP Low Focus on Inspected Records. In 2015, Skope and Seppa released the EP Nordic on Inspected Records.
Skope’s work with Mr. Bill includes the track “2020.” In 2023, Skope, Culprate and Mr. Bill released 2020 (Culprate Remix) on Mr. Bill’s Tunes. After a hiatus that began in 2021, Skope released the 11-track album Tempest on Inspected Records in 2026. That year, Skope also released the single Slapback on Slug Wife and the single Dutty VIP on Skope.
