SpectraSoul is the Brighton drum & bass duo of Jack Stevens and David Kennett. Before joining forces, both members were DJing, promoting and producing; they met and began making music together. The duo emerged in 2006 with the single Tempest Dub / In My Arms, which launched Friction’s SGN:LTD label. Their releases have appeared on Metalheadz, Exit Records, Critical Music and Shogun Audio. In 2010, they released the album Resistance on Symmetry. Dave and Jack met at one of Dave’s events in London before they began making music together.
Shogun Audio issued Delay No More, which features “Light In The Dark” with Terri Walker and “Away With Me” with Tamara Blessa. Both singles received heavy rotation on BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra and 6Music. The duo also released “Always / I Don’t Mind” and collaborated with Alix Perez on “Forsaken,” featuring Peven Everett. Their second album, The Mistress, followed in 2015. In 2016, SpectraSoul launched their own drum & bass label, Ish Chat Music. The Away With Me EP, released in 2012, included remixes by Calibre and Kito. SpectraSoul also released “Heal Me (SpectraSoul Remix)” with Arctic Lake in 2016.
The label released the album How We Live and the EP Synergy in 2017. That year, their track “Ben” appeared on the 10 Years Of Shogun Audio anniversary album. Their Critical Music releases include “Alibi” and “Organiser.” The EP Silence arrived on Ish Chat Music in 2018. Their releases also include music on 1985 Music and the 2017 remix “Rude Love (SpectraSoul Remix)” with Becky Hill. In 2022, Enei remixed “Alibi” for Critical Music.
