Formed in Toulouse in 2017, Visages brings together Valentin Mart, Etienne Bacqué, Thomas Descamps and Kévin Riguetti, four friends who first crossed paths through local drum-and-bass events. Before working as a group, the members made music individually; organizing events gave them a reason to start producing together. Their shared involvement with Dusk DNB was part of that early connection. Etienne also performs as Midn8runner, while Valentin uses the name Ak:Hash. The collective’s music ranges from soulful drum and bass to deep dubstep, with influences including hip-hop, rock, reggae and ambient music. They have described wanting their tracks to work on a dance floor as well as at home, and have cited film soundtracks among their inspirations.
Visages released the single Point Of View on Impact Music in 2018, the year of their first EP. In 2019, the group joined Alix Perez’s 1985 Music and worked with Hyroglifics and Monty. Their releases have also appeared on Flexout Audio and Dispatch Recordings, alongside the later label connection with Shogun Audio. The four members’ shared Toulouse background has remained part of their account of how the group formed, while interviews have discussed the practical process of developing music as a four-piece. That process began after years of individual production and involvement in the city’s bass-music events.
Among Visages’ collaborations, the track “Hardware” was made with Monty, Strategy and Pav4n. The release From Lead To Gold includes “Black Katana”, made with Alix Perez, and “Ace Of Spades”, featuring Monty. In 2023, the group released the single I Can’t Stay on Flexout Audio with Charli Brix and DRS, and the single Greengate Adhesive (Visages Remix) on Deep Dark & Dangerous with Regents and Strategy. A year later came the single Farrda (Visages Remix) on Vision Recordings with I Am Legion.
In 2026, Visages released the single Steppin On Toes on 1985 Music with Scratchy, followed by the single SOLD MY SOUL (Visages Remix) on PullUp Recordings with BSEARL. The group played The Red Room in April and The Prospect Building in August. September brought appearances at UNO MALTA and Macadam, with the latter performance taking place on 25 September.
