Astrophonica is a record label founded in 2009 by producer Fracture, whose name is Charlie Fieber. Its music spans drum and bass, jungle and footwork, with Fracture, dBridge, Sully and Lewis James among the artists. Fracture and Neptune created the label for their own tracks after a planned release through Play:Musik fell through. Its debut paired “Clissold” with “Killerwhat?”. The label is based in London, UK.
Early releases featured Fracture and Neptune, with the roster later widening to include other artists. Sam Binga’s single “FDGD” appeared on Astrophonica in 2014, and the label has issued “Gradients” compilations. Its 2022 project “0860” examined pirate radio’s place in UK underground music through an album, radio station and interview series. Astrophonica releases music on vinyl, with distinct artwork for each release. Fracture selects the label’s tracks, requiring that they work in his sets and catch his attention. Astrophonica also hosts events and showcases.
