C4C Recordings began in 1999, established by DJ and producer Cause 4 Concern. The label initially issued the group’s own drum and bass recordings, then expanded to music by other producers. Its debut 12-inch appeared that December, pairing Cause 4 Concern’s “Phatcap” with “Euthanasia.” Optiv, CZA and Audio are among the artists whose music has appeared on C4C Recordings. CZA and Optiv combined resources to establish Cause 4 Concern Records; after two or three years, they began supporting emerging artists.
In 2001, C4C Limited launched as a sister label for experimental tracks and remixes of C4C releases by other artists. Cause 4 Concern’s album Pandemic followed in 2008, and the label issued Sequence of Events in 2015. Cause 4 Concern Recordings marked its twentieth anniversary in 2019.
