Ganja Recordings is a UK jungle and drum and bass label that DJ Hype started in 1994 as an outlet for tracks that did not fit his work for Suburban Base. The records mix heavy basslines and busy drum patterns with dancehall and reggae-style vocals, and DJ Hype, Pascal and Zinc are its core artists.
The first releases in 1994 were Volume 1 by DJ Hype and Dopestyle and Volume 2 by Hardware and DJ Hype, and DJ Zinc's Super Sharp Shooter followed in 1995. The label stopped in 1996, partly because of restrictions on artwork carrying its cannabis-leaf logo, according to DJ Hype.
Ganja came back in 2003 with Mampi Swift's Puppet Walk / System and also put out four compilations under the Ganja Records name. Later records included Sub Zero's Spin Doc VIP / Dodge City in 2010 and Crystal Clear and Zen's Heavy (VIP) / Bullet / Ultrasound in 2011.
