goodlooking Records was founded in 1991 by producer LTJ Bukem. The UK label releases jungle and drum and bass with an atmospheric, jazz-influenced feel, often grouped as intelligent drum and bass, jazzstep and liquid funk. Early singles included LTJ Bukem’s “Demon’s Theme / A Couple of Beats” in 1992 and “Music (Happy Raw) / Enchanted” in 1993; “Atlantis” and “Music” offered a soulful, melodic alternative to the hardcore sound of the time. By 1994 Bukem had set up the sister imprint Looking Good Records, which issued some of the label’s drum and bass releases.
goodlooking launched its Earth compilation series in 1996, drawing on hip-hop, lounge, funk, soul, jazz and house. Its first Progression Sessions mix CD followed in 1998, documenting tours and residencies with LTJ Bukem and MC Conrad. The label released Big Bud’s album Infinity + Infinity in 1999 and LTJ Bukem’s Atlantis (Marky & S.P.Y. Rework) in 2013. Makoto and Seba have also released music on the label.
