Sebastian Ahrenberg, known professionally as Seba (also as Forme), is a Swedish producer and DJ working across breakbeat, drum and bass, jungle and liquid-funk. He is based in Stockholm and has released music and run events and a label from there since the mid‑1990s.

His first professional release was "Sonic Winds" — a co-production with Lo‑tek — issued on LTJ Bukem's Looking Good Records in 1996. In 1997 he founded the Secret Operations club in central Stockholm and later ran the Secret Operations record label. Between 1999 and 2003 Ahrenberg released mostly house material on the Swedish Svek label under the names Seba and Forme; he returned to drum and bass in 2002 via releases on Secret Operations and on other labels.

As a producer Seba’s sound is specific and repeatable: meticulous break editing, tight drum programming and a focus on warm, layered low end. His tracks commonly pair cleanly processed breaks with round mid/sub bass layers and lush, reverb‑soaked pads or stringlike atmospheres. He frequently places clear vocal hooks — most notably his long-running collaborations with vocalist Robert Manos — over spacious arrangements, which gives many tracks a liquid, melodic character while retaining crisp percussion detail. Seba’s productions emphasize clarity in the mixdown: separated kick and sub, restrained midrange, and sustained ambient elements that sit behind rather than on top of the drums.

As a DJ he leans toward smooth blends and harmonic sequencing, favoring rollers and liquid cuts that showcase his own productions alongside complementary releases. His sets commonly prioritize dynamic control of the low end and a sequencing that moves from atmospheric, vocal‑led tracks into deeper, drum‑driven rollers rather than abrupt peak‑time jumps.

Career highlights and specific releases: "Sonic Winds" (with Lo‑tek) on Looking Good Records (1996); founding Secret Operations club (1997) and later operating the Secret Operations label; a period of house releases on Svek between 1999–2003 under both Seba and Forme; and a sustained return to drum and bass from 2002 onward. Album releases include Producer 6 (2003), Beats Me (with Paradox, 2006), Return to Forever (2008), Identity (2013), Ingaro (2022) and Oni (2024). He has collaborated frequently with Paradox and with Robert Manos, the latter appearing as a recurring vocalist across his catalog.

Concrete label and collaborator connections that mark his career: a first release on LTJ Bukem’s Looking Good Records (1996); multiple house releases on Sweden’s Svek label (1999–2003) as Seba and Forme; and the operation of his own Secret Operations imprint from 2002 onward. Collaborations with Paradox produced co‑released material and a joint album (Beats Me, 2006), while Robert Manos supplied vocals on numerous tracks across Seba’s drum and bass output.

Seba’s recorded output and label activity span nearly three decades: from "Sonic Winds" in 1996, through house and Forme material around the turn of the century, back into drum and bass from 2002, and album releases continuing into 2024 with Oni. His discography, repeated collaborations with Paradox and Robert Manos, and stewardship of Secret Operations are the concrete markers of his role in the scene.

Born in Slough, Berkshire, James Boyle began making drum-and-bass music as a teenager and later became known as Breakage. An unofficial remix of Doc Scott’s “Here Come the Drums” brought him attention in 2001. His early releases appeared on Reinforced Records, Scientific Wax and Bassbin, including solo EPs on Reinforced and an EP made with Threshold under the name Special Branch. Boyle also worked with Dsyfa as Solar Motion. In 2005, he joined Equinox to lead Scientific Wax, adding label responsibilities to his work as a producer and DJ.

Breakage’s early work included the 2004 single “Acid Rain” with Equinox on Inperspective Records. His releases have crossed jungle, drum and bass and dubstep, with music also issued through Digital Soundboy. The debut album This Too Shall Pass arrived in 2006, followed by Foundation in 2010. “Fighting Fire”, featuring Jess Mills, was a single from the latter and became Breakage’s first UK Top 40 hit. “Run ’Em Out”, featuring Roots Manuva, is another of his collaborations. Boyle’s work on Digital Soundboy preceded the launch of his own Index club night and label.

The first Index release was the single “Elmhurst Dub” / “Anymore”. Boyle has said the label reflects his own taste and the music he wants to hear in clubs; running it also means deciding what gets released. He has described finding it difficult to stop tinkering with tracks. His album When The Night Comes followed in 2015. Breakage and Sam Binga later exchanged remixes for an EP on Critical Music, despite not having worked together in the studio before discussing the project; Breakage’s contribution was a remix of Binga’s “Mind & Spirit”.

In 2019, Breakage released the EP Liff U. His later Index releases include the EP India November Delta Echo X-Ray, which features a remix by Break. In 2023, he released the single “Style & Pattern” on Index. Breakage has also worked with regular collaborator SP:MC, who hosted his DJ Mag podcast. In 2025, he released the single “NOBU (Remixes)” with Champion, KINGH and SHY FX on Cult.ure.

James Clements began DJing on pirate radio while still at school, after growing up in different parts of England. He wrote his first productions between 1997 and 1999 and has released music as ASC since 1999. Early tracks found homes on Nu Directions and Good Looking Records; in 2000, Clements set up Covert Operations. The label released music through 2009, including 30 vinyl releases and eight CDs. Clements first produced as ASC with Michael Dunne, releasing music as ASC & Future Link before moving forward as a solo artist.

In 2010, Clements released the album Nothing Is Certain on NonPlus+. The album became an important release in the development of autonomic, a sound ASC helped develop with dBridge and Instra:mental. The three artists were key figures in the movement, and Clements also collaborated with both as part of its circle. After Nothing Is Certain, Clements launched Auxiliary, a label he has run since 2010. His label work has extended to Spatial, which he has run since 2022, and to Veil and Diode, launched in 2012 and 2013 respectively.

ASC’s music spans drum and bass, jungle, ambient and experimental electronic music. Clements has cited Motown, techno and UK hardcore among his influences, while his work also reaches into film: at the request of Liquid Cinema head Jeff Rona, he created the Music For Pictures project. Clements has released music on NonPlus+ and Samurai Music, including the 2024 single S100. His 2025 album Vanishing Point appeared on Auxiliary, and that year he also released the single Violet Dusk | Blossom Memory with zakè on Past Inside the Present.

In 2026, Clements released the album Microliths and Momentary Drifts with Ossa and zakè on Zakè Drone Recordings. The same year brought the single Antiquated Thoughts EP on ARTS. Alongside his production work, Clements remains active as a DJ and label operator, with Auxiliary and Spatial among the labels he runs. His musical range spans club-focused drum and bass and jungle as well as ambient and experimental electronic work.

Steve Kielty began his music career as a studio engineer in 1993, before recording drum & bass with Roy McCabe as Akustic Research and Banaczech. The pair released music in 1995 on Vinyl Addiction and Partisan Recordings. After parting ways with McCabe and taking a break from drum & bass, Kielty returned in 2005 as the solo project Survival. A British producer and engineer, he has also worked under the aliases South Soul Project and Basenji, exploring deeper bass music through those names.

Survival’s solo releases on Inperspective and Intasound helped establish his name, drawing on his experience in professional studios. His subsequent label credits include Dispatch, Symmetry, Critical, Exit, Shogun Audio, DNAudio and Quarantine. A 2006 single, Tron / Keep It Coming, came out on SGN:LTD. His 2020 single Dispatch Dubplate 016 was a collaboration with Script, released on Dispatch Dubplate. The range of labels also includes Utopia Music and Vampire Records.

Kielty has worked with dBridge, Fierce, Sabre, Ant TC1 and Break, and has made solo and collaborative releases for his own label, Audio Tactics. Those collaborations include work with Silent Witness, Alix Perez, Octane and DLR. Survival and Silent Witness formed a production partnership and planned the album In From The Wild for Dispatch Recordings in early 2013. Audio Tactics is also home to Survival’s 2025 single Spor.

In 2023, Survival’s releases included the single Where Do We Go (Survival Remix), with MC Fats, Paul T & Edward Oberon, on V Recordings, and the single Mira EP - Part 2 on Dispatch Recordings. His 2025 single KETTAMAN (Remix), with Calculon and King Sinister, appeared on King Sinister under exclusive licence to GRADUATION. Kielty is also a DJ as well as a producer.

From Tampere, Finnish producer and DJ Ilpo Kärkkäinen began making a name in the tracker music scene in the mid-1990s, before turning his focus to drum and bass as Resound around 2001. He established the Rebound label in 1997, then built a run of releases across Metalheadz, Renegade Hardware, Function Records and Exit Records. His work has also appeared on Samurai Music, adding another label to a career rooted in drum and bass. His 2001 single “Underground / Spiral Web” came out on Warm Communications.

Kärkkäinen met Loxy at Therapy Sessions in London in 2006, and the pair later made the album Burning Shadows. Resound subsequently joined Loxy and Ink to form I.L.R. Studios; the trio released music through their own label in 2020. Kärkkäinen also established the Resoundsound imprint and developed Rhytual as a label for music beyond his drum-and-bass work, while deciding to keep Resound as his artist identity rather than divide that work between aliases.

In 2022, Resound released “Stop Motion (Loomis Remix)” on I.L.R. Studios with Ink, Loomis and Loxy. His 2023 releases included “Dispatch Dubplate 20” on Dispatch Dubplate and “FR012” on Future Retro London, both made with Loxy, as well as “Shades of Red” on Architecture Recordings with Ink. In 2025, he released “Dunn's River Falls” with Loxy on Straight Up Breakbeat.
