From St. Petersburg, Russia, Dissident has worked as a producer and DJ, releasing drum and bass on Renegade Hardware, Hospital Records and Subtle Audio. Sevostyanikhin began producing electronic music in 1998 and received recognition as a producer and author of the best album at the 2003 Drum’n’Bass Awards. That year, Dissident released the single Astral Mode on TAMRECORDS. His experimental drum and bass tracks have also appeared on Offshore and KOS.MOS.
Sevostyanikhin owns and runs Opposide, a label focused on expressive and experimental drum and bass. Under the alias Kontext, he makes techno and IDM, exploring electronic music beyond jungle. Dissident’s later singles include Lost Dubs 3 on Microfunk Music in 2020 and Dub Moloch on Audio Boutique in 2021. In 2025, he released Worse and Louder on Kos.Mos.Music with Anna Sunnet and Electrosoul System, followed by Untitled Jam / Jah on Opposide. The 2026 single Bramand came out on Neuropunk Records.
