Inspected was started in 2011 by friends Neil Cole and Paul Medal as a self-funded label, with the aim of connecting musicians and fans and giving a platform to artists across a broad range of electronic sounds. Its releases blend dubstep, glitch hop and drum and bass, with halftime and neurofunk in the mix, and the team also makes artwork and music videos.
Gemini, now a co-owner, KOAN Sound and Culprate were its first signings, and all three released EPs in 2011: Gemini’s Blue, KOAN Sound’s Max Out EP and Culprate’s 5 Star EP. Culprate’s single “Nightmares in Reality” followed in 2012, and Asa, Skope, Vorso and Omadhaun have also released music on the label. In 2014 Inspected opened a pop-up shop at Boxpark in Shoreditch, and in 2015 it played its first festival stage at Boomtown.
