Melting Pot Records was founded by Gonzalo Rubio Mollá in September 2005 and is based in Madrid, Spain. It started out bringing different musical styles together, with early releases spanning hardtek, drum and bass and breakbeat; drum and bass later became its main focus. Rubio linked the name to his interest in combining genres. Promoting Spain’s local scene has been a central motivation, and Spanish artists have featured prominently alongside international drum-and-bass producers.
Mooncat, eRRe, Gancher, Maniatics and Kursiva have all released music on the label. eRRe’s Da Putas Clan Compilation appeared in 2009, followed by The Melting Pot Chronicles Part II in May 2013, bringing together drum-and-bass artists from different countries and with varied influences. The label marked its tenth anniversary in 2015 with a compilation and a vinyl sampler featuring Malsum, Sinoptic and Krone; Maniatics also released Melting Pot 10th Anniversary, Pt. III that year. Its digital imprint, The Digital Pot, began in 2008, alongside associated projects Filthy Sanchez Recs, Meltdown Dubs, Da Putas Clan and Boycott.
