Pineapple Records is based in Bristol and was established in 2019 by producer Sam Binga, with Graham as a co-founder. Binga set up the label to put out music beyond the sound he had been exploring on releases for other labels. Drum and bass is its focus, alongside bass-heavy club tracks drawing on UK funky, UK garage and techno. The label’s broader style also takes in footwork, booty house, grime, jungle and breaks. Collaborations and vocalists have been part of its releases from the beginning, and early projects included work with Addison Groove and DJ Polo.
Among the label’s first releases were “Step and Sway,” with Emz and Marcus Visionary, and “Spinners,” featuring Slay. Early releases also included “Da Freakz” and “Near 2 We,” made with Rider Shafique and Redders. By the lifting of UK lockdown in summer 2021, the label had put out 10 more EPs. Its release artwork, as well as the pineapple logo, is handled by designer Sanja, who works under the name bastardshark.
Sir Hiss issued his debut album, Time Dilation, through the label in October 2025. Pineapple Records received the Best Label award at DJ Mag’s 2025 Best of British Awards.
