Soulbass Recordings is a drum and bass label founded around 2014 in Osasco, São Paulo, by DJ and producer Renato Tecnic. Its releases cover liquid drum and bass and neurofunk. Tecnic initially intended the label for his own productions, but it went on to issue tracks by artists from Brazil and other countries. He named Metalheadz and Hospital Records as influences. Its artists include Simplification, Translate, L-Side and Mystific.
In 2015, the label put out L-Side’s single Starways / Skylines, followed in 2016 by Mystific’s Where You Go. Tecnic picked out the Random Movement remix of “Come Back,” originally by Simplification and Translate, as the release that drew the most attention. By May 2017, Soulbass Recordings had issued 27 records, including music by Unreal and Broken System. Tecnic was responsible for mastering tracks, while Lucky made first contact with artists and submissions were considered for fit before signing.
