Spinnin' Records began in the Netherlands in 1999, founded by Eelko van Kooten and Roger de Graaf. Its early work included pressing vinyl for artists, and its first release was a remix collection built around First Choice's 1974 track “The Player”. The label also issued early dance music and licensing releases, then launched the trance imprint Liquid Recordings. In 2002, Dutch group 4 Strings released “Take Me Away (Into The Night)” on Spinnin'; it became the label’s first release to chart internationally.
Drum and bass is a small part of its much wider dance output, with artists including Mollie Collins, Fox Stevenson, P Money and Interupt. Fox Stevenson’s “Tico” came out on the label in 2015. Spinnin' helped launch the careers of Martin Garrix, Oliver Heldens and Afrojack, and operates Spinnin' Deep, an imprint for deeper, more underground electronic sounds.
Spinnin' launched its YouTube channel in 2005. Warner Music Group acquired the label in September 2017, when Roger de Graaf became CEO. Spinnin' Records moved its headquarters from Hilversum to Amsterdam in October 2023.
