A legend of drum and bass music is set to release an album titled "History" on his label Charge in the near future.
Mampi began his acquaintance with jungle in the early 1990s. He started DJing and working behind the counter at the vinyl shop "Lucky Spin." Having a sound engineer as a neighbour, he did not miss the opportunity to begin learning in the studio. Soon, his work began appearing on labels such as Suburban Base, True Playaz, Trouble On Vinyl and Frontline.
In 1997, he launched his own label, Charge Recordings. With the release of tracks such as "The One," "Hi Tek," "Touch Of J," "Jaws" and "Trippin," his label rose to the top tier of drum and bass imprints of the time. Releases by artists including Fresh, Friction, Blame, Sigma, Gridlok and others also saw the light of day on Charge.
For the past two years, Mampi and Charge had released nothing. Working in the shadows, Swift was creating a new album. The History LP will not be entirely his own work: it will include productions by Gridlok, Warrior Code, Breeze, Modulate with NC-17, a Blokhead remix and others.
