Verbz, whose real name is Dequarn Thompson-Koko, comes from Croydon, South London, and works as a rapper and DJ across hip-hop and drum & bass. His writing has been described as introspective, with an effortless flow. His collaborators include Mr Slipz, Alix Perez, Halogenix, Dogger & Mindstate, GLXY and En:vy. Verbz has released music through High Focus Records, GeminiGemini, Hospital Records, Precinct City, The North Quarter, Critical Music and 1985 Music.

In 2025, Verbz and longtime collaborator Mr Slipz released the 12-track album THE WAY FWD on High Focus Records. That year also brought the EP In Time, made with Zar.

Verbz has said that he began making music by freestyling with friends on a bench in Brockwell Park, South London. He has also described a writing process in which he sometimes writes songs without a beat, then fits the words to music afterward. Among the artists he listened to while growing up, he named Klashnekoff, Nas, Skinnyman, Skepta, Kode 9 and Benga.
