Outrage (formerly known as DJ Rage) tied his life to drum and bass more than 10 years ago. It all began at the age of 15, when he first found his way onto Bedford pirate radio station Shock FM. Shortly after that broadcast, his powerful DJ sets began filling Bedford’s dancefloors, attracting the attention of both fans and future co-producers.
By the age of 16, Outrage teamed up with Stomp and Weaver to write the tracks “Check the Flava” and “Deep in 2 Depth”. Through his creative alliance with these guys, he became part of the parties “Sugar Cubes” in Lincoln and “Fantasy Island” in Skegness. By the age of 18, Outrage had already established himself as a DJ. His audience grew through Perception FM, the biggest pirate radio station in the Bedford area, as well as the prestigious London station Rinse FM, where he had his own show. Then Stomp also moved to London, and the two of them holed up in the studio. The result was “Snakes” on L Double’s label Flex Records.
The year 2000 was marked for Outrage by an alliance with Tronic (a producer now better known as Amit). For two years they wrote music together, which was released on labels such as Nu Urban and Chemical Warfare. Through these releases, the duo met Digital, a pioneer of dub-oriented drum and bass, who revealed some production secrets to them and helped raise their skill level. Soon afterwards, Outrage released his first solo work on the labels L Plates, Fuze, Basement Records, Proper Talent, Intasound, Inneractive Music and the mighty Metalheadz. The label Metalheadz demonstrates his individual sound very well—a distinctive, dry, metallic techstep sound combined with clean old-school jungle vibes.
Thanks to his talent, he became part of such legendary festivals as Berlin’s Loveparade and Sziget Festival in Hungary. In April 2005, at the Ichione Subversive Renaissance party in Amsterdam, Outrage made his live performance debut and immediately moved into the category of live-act musicians.
In 2007, Outrage launched his own label—Backlash Records, specialising in experimental sounds and ready to breathe new life into the electronic music scene.
Backlash Records rejects musical taboos and gives producers the opportunity to free their minds from the templates imposed on creativity by the music industry. The label’s first release was scheduled for May 2007 and hoped to attract an audience of listeners rather than consumers.
In support of the label, Outrage is taking the Backlash Records Tour around the world—the UK, Europe, the USA, Australia, New Zealand and Russia. On 11 May he will perform in Orel, and on the 12th in Saint Petersburg, at the club Orlandina. This is his first appearance in our country.
