1991 (real name Frederick Webb) is a London-based producer and DJ working primarily within drum and bass and jungle (with clear ties to liquid funk). He emerged on the scene around 2016 after being publicly championed by Chase & Status and signing to MTA Records. Webb has released singles including "Witchdoctor", "Cyclone" (featuring Mugatu) and "Full Send", and his debut album Odyssey was issued in 2022.
His entry into the scene is tied to that 2016 moment of support from Chase & Status and the subsequent relationship with MTA Records. Early attention around "Witchdoctor" led to further singles and label activity; since then 1991 has released music on MTA Records and on high-profile outlets associated with bass music such as OWSLA and UKF. That label run opened doors to official remix work — he has produced sanctioned remixes for Axwell and for Basement Jaxx — and to major festival billing.
Public documentation on 1991’s specific studio techniques is limited, but his catalogue (singles and the 2022 album Odyssey) positions him inside bass-forward electronic production. His recorded material spans drum and bass and jungle touchpoints and crosses into adjacent styles listed on his profile (Bass House, Bassline, Liquid Funk, UK Garage, House and other bass/club forms). Tracks like "Cyclone" (feat. Mugatu) and "Full Send" are cited in listings and press as examples of his output across those registers.
As a DJ, 1991 has taken his records to major stages: he has performed at Tomorrowland and at EDC Las Vegas. Those appearances are documented alongside his releases and remix credits, showing a dual role as both studio producer and live DJ. The "Cyclone" single includes a credited vocal collaboration with Mugatu; his remix work for Axwell and Basement Jaxx are formal, credited jobs rather than unofficial edits.
Concrete career highlights: championing by Chase & Status (around 2016), signing and releases on MTA Records, singles "Witchdoctor", "Cyclone" (feat. Mugatu) and "Full Send", remixes for Axwell and Basement Jaxx, releases on OWSLA and UKF, and the 2022 debut album Odyssey. He continues to be billed as 1991 for DJ sets and production work out of London.
Because public biographical detail beyond those credits is limited, Odyssey (2022) and the named singles/remixes remain the clearest, verifiable record of 1991’s output to date.
