Bachelors of Science

Formed in California in 2005, Bachelors of Science bring together Phil “Rene” Collis, Chris Doe and Lukeino Argilla. The San Francisco trio work in drum and bass, with liquid funk a particular focus, and draw inspiration from London, their hometown. Their first album, Science Fiction, arrived in 2008 on Horizons Music, the same year as the single “Strings Track / Brooklyn Summer”, released with Saburuko. A remix of “Strings Track” by Apex won Best Drum & Bass Track at the 2009 Beatport Awards.

Warehouse Dayz followed in 2010, before the group launched CODE Recordings in 2012 as an outlet for its own work and other drum-and-bass productions. Bachelors of Science have also released music through Spearhead, Fokuz, Horizons, Intrigue and Dirtybird. Their 2015 album The Space Between came between the earlier albums and Within This Moment, released in 2022 on CODE Recordings. The tracks “Song For Lovers” and “The Ice Dance” became liquid drum-and-bass anthems.

Alongside their own productions, Bachelors of Science have remixed music by Justin Martin, Groove Armada, The xx, Home Video, Death Cab for Cutie and Seasick Steve. Their 2017 single “Beats Still Own The Rhythm (Pola & Bryson Remix)” was released on Liquicity Records with Pola & Bryson, and the single “Love Is Found” came out on Formation Records in 2020. In 2021, “I'm Solo (Bachelors Of Science Remix)” appeared as a single on Dirtybird.

The group released the single “Stomp” on CODE Recordings in 2022. Bachelors of Science have maintained a presence in San Francisco, playing at F8 1192 Folsom in 2024 and returning to the venue for performances in 2025 and 2026. Other recent appearances included Submersion Festival at Paradise Lakes Campground in 2025 and a set at Whiskey Dick's Saloon that July.
