Toronto-born producer and DJ Bensley is the stage name of Peter Bennett, a Canadian artist whose main focus is drum and bass. Before moving into electronic production, Bennett trained as a jazz saxophonist, and jazz remains among the influences he brings to his music. At 19, he sent a demo to Andy C’s RAM Records and signed exclusively to the label. His 2015 single Fandango appeared on RAM, marking an early release in a run that would also take in Monstercat, Deadbeats, UKF and mau5trap.
In 2019, Bensley released the album Muskoka, inspired by summers spent in Ontario’s Muskoka region. His subsequent work has included the Cascade EP for Zeds Dead’s label, Deadbeats; Bensley said it was a release he was proud of. He has described his approach as bringing together memorable songwriting, detailed sound design and influences from beyond drum and bass. His tracks include That Feeling and Vex, while Debonair earned a nomination in the Underground Dance Single category at the 2023 JUNO Award.
Alongside his own productions, Bensley has made official remixes for Zeds Dead, Noisia, Camo & Krooked and Delta Heavy. His 2023 single Interference paired him with DNMO on Deadbeats. In 2024, he worked with Colleen D'agostino and Kumarion on the mau5trap single I Am Here. The following year brought the Monstercat single Twerp, made with Hoax, and the Pilot single Sell My Soul (VIP), with Justin Hawkes and Kumarion.
Bensley’s releases have also appeared on Nightmode, and his associated labels include Pilot Records. In 2026, he released the single Sinking Ship. (D&B Mix). Earlier that year, he played Soundwell on a bill with Metrik, followed by a performance at F8 1192 Folsom. His work spans drum and bass, halftime and dubstep.
