Burr Oak began producing together around 2018, before French producers Julien Carbou, known as The Clamps, and Nicolas Levy, known as Opsen, formed the drum and bass duo in 2019. The name draws on associations with Western stories and Native American mythology. Both members had played in rock bands, and they bring rock influences to their drum and bass production. Their studio work is hands-on: the pair often produce side by side, sharing work on drums, basses and synths.
Their 2019 EP Feel the Truth came in the year Burr Oak formed. The duo’s first release on Eatbrain was the Hawkeye EP, followed by further music on that label and on Trendkill Records, Blackout and Cause4Concern. A 2019 single, “Life Is Lost”, paired Burr Oak with NickBee on C4C Limited. The duo later worked with Billain on “Shinigami”, and with Black Sun Empire on “Steppenwolf”, released on Blackout.
In 2023, Eatbrain released Burr Oak’s debut album, Somewhere We Belong. Its guest collaborators include TheReal King Jay, Lifesize MC, Izela and Lilø. The duo’s work with Billain also produced the 2025 single “Shinigami VIP” on Blackout Music NL. In 2026, Burr Oak teamed with Task Horizon for the single “Disintegrate (Burr Oak Remix)” on Evolution Chamber, and with Opsen, The Clamps and Tryst Temps for the single “The Bison VIPs” on Kosenprod.
Other 2026 collaborations include the single “Don’t Play (Burr Oak Remix)” with Audio on Neuroheadz and “Black Tears” with Pythius and REEBZ on Eatbrain.
