Mizo

From Nizhny Novgorod, Russia, Mizo is the stage name of Alexey Maslyukov, a producer and DJ working in drum and bass and neurofunk. Maslyukov began making drum and bass in 2008 and started his career the following year. His first record arrived on Ammunition in 2010, the same year as the single Enemy Ship, Shivering Wood on Tamrecords. The track “Blood Line” brought him wider attention, and he went on to release music on Tamrecords. His early EPs included Without the Sun on Ammunition Records and Confusion on Deepah Beatz.

In 2014, Maslyukov co-founded Gydra with Menfort and Bes. He left the project in 2017 to focus on a solo career, having been part of the group for three years. His solo releases have appeared on Eatbrain, Blackout, Redlight and Dutty Audio. Maslyukov has described cinematic music and the challenge of building powerful drums and bass as influences on his move towards neurofunk. The EP Soul Reaper features Coppa, while the five-track Dust Devil EP includes TRILO and ChaseR. He also worked with Russian producer ChaseR on the track “Contactless.”

Maslyukov developed the “My Alternative Reality” concept around a masked alter ego appearing in his music videos. In 2019, he released the single Hellhound / Mechanical Paw on Neuropunk Records. The following year brought Icy Wyrm, an EP made with HELO and released on Eatbrain. Mizo also played at Let It Roll in Milovice in 2019 and 2022. In 2024, the single “Break The Silence” paired him with Shadow Sect on Hoofbeats Music, while “Party Jumper” brought together Mizo and 2Whales on Eatbrain.

In 2025, Mizo released the single “١٠٠٠ وش” on 100COPIES MUSIC. His 2026 releases include Modular EP on Neuropunk Records and the single “Наступает Ночь,” a collaboration with Swetti SV on КОСТЁР.
