Mizo’s Dark Embrace frames its four tracks around a grim fairytale: a child rescued from a swallowing bog grows into a witch whose magic comes from loss, and may be the only force able to save others. The music follows that shadowed world with weighty basslines and menacing tonalities, built for the dancefloor. It also marks Mizo’s return to Eatbrain, the neurofunk label that has been a home for his solo work.
